Replies climber783 Posted at 10:45 am on April 20, 2008 If you're running it from the live CD, its going to go pretty slow, since it has to go back and look up every single program that you run and such from the CD.  You can install some things, such as plugins and save settings and documents, as long as you save them to a flash drive.  This can make the live CD kind of handy, because by using the live CD and a flash drive you can run Ubuntu with all your settings on almost any computer.   You can always run the live CD for a few days to see if you like it, and then change up the partitions later when you decide if you want Ubuntu or not.   jamescoleman Posted at 8:50 am on April 20, 2008 try it out first. i have that and alot of other distros on live cd. you wont have alot of support for like flash because you have to install it. try ubuntu ultimate. it has more stuff than regular ubuntu and plus ubuntu 8.XX will be out in soon. anyways it'll be slower to load than not being on the harddrive because it has to find support for all the stuff on your computer instead of just knowing. when you get to it though it'll be nice and when you wanna install it it'll be nicer to do. marshmellowman Posted at 8:49 am on April 20, 2008 Alright, it's not that fast, and takes a while to load initially. You need to have quite a bit of RAM to get it working half decent. All 3 previous replies displayed.
