does anyone know how to save the configuration from a live cd session and then load it back up when the live cd is loaded back..or even better yet save the config to the hard drive. i couldn't find it online but i remember doing it with slax linux a few years back and i went back to the site and the instructions weren't there anymore.

You can save your settings and configurations on a flash or USB drive. Not sure exactly how, but it's done all the time. See if this site helps.

You would have to alter the saved ISO on the CD. I'm sure there's a way to do it, but it would be ridiculously time consuming. Your best bet is to partition.
