i've been scoping some out recently, and i was wondering..

do you have to buy all the songs you put on there via itunes.

bc, i've never been the biggest fans of ipods, so i've never had one. and i don't know how all that works.

can i like, use my own cds and transfer songs onto it, like a normal mp3 player?

Yeah or you can download them off frostwire or limewire.

Yes, you can use your own music from CDs.  You need not use the iTunes store at all if you already have the music in CD / mp3 form.
