Also, I've noticed that I rarely get good 3G coverage indoors. Though honestly unless you tether your phone or access content-heavy sites (non-mobile versions of them), you won't notice much difference between the older EDGE/2G networks and 3G. And I know some networks like to charge extra for tethering and try to prevent you from tethering on a cheaper data plan, even if it is supposed to be unlimited.
