alright i'm having trouble with using three routers on a network. so i have dsl with the modem and router together. then there is another router by it which is connected to both. now what i want to do is connect another router which as wireless on it but it wont foward any traffic though the wireless router. i even tried to use it as a router and a gateway and still nothing..anyone else do something like this?

You may possibly need a more sifisticated router e.g cisco 1700 series or 2600 series routers with to ethernet interfaces so you can route between the two networks.

what i'm going for is two different networks so when i get my cisco stuff....i'll be able to work on that and also access my computers from school if i want to up load and download files.

modem/router > router

modem/router to my laptop/living room/basement

what i want is

modem/router > router > wireless router

modem/router to living room

router to basement

router > wireless router to my room used as a switch

i'm gonna be networking

8 computers if it all goes well

five in my room
one living room
one basement
one sisters room

one more when sister is here.

So you have it like this?

MODEM > Router
                ^
          > Router?

That makes no sense... You could just stack it... Connect Router 1 to modem, then router 2 to connect to an output on router 1... Router 3 connects to router 2.

Why are you doing this? How many computers you networking?
