is it better to have a domain and host from two different places? (i would think it would if you have it from different places and one of them has bad service *the host* you can switch and maybe they wont mess up anything with your domain.) is it also a hassel to switch?

It really depends on what you're getting with the hosting. If it's not worth it, then yes, switch to a better host.
