I use Open Office and Star Office for everything.  I'm not gonna pay 90 bucks for a word processor when I can get a fully functional one for free.  It works great for all the papers, lab reports, and powerpoints I have to piece together for school.

It is great for those who need a word processor and can't afford (or don't want to risk) getting MS-Office.  Some actually like it more than the pricey competitors.
