and like this was a while ago.. but i decided to restore it back to factory settings, so i got the manual and read about it.. so i clicked the packard bell restore thingie.. the computer restarted and it said about packardbell CD thing.. i was like erm.. it showed a screen shot of it in the manual and said it was a cd thing as well.. i was confused as:
1. there wasn't a CD in the computer drive 2. i didn't have one which came with it..
i decided to format it by pressing keeping personal files or something.. and it quick formatted ¬_¬..
then it went into this factory setting thing.. and started installing all the stuff again.. but i noticed that all my installed stuff was still there.. like my games etc.. so it hadn't formatted ..
after installing i named the pc the same name as asways.. and the a little note always comes up now.. like those popup microsoft things.. and it says Duplicate name on thingie.. ¬_¬ and the computer is like soo pooped..
so i tried formatting again.. but before that i made sure that it booted from hard drive not a disc.. and still does the same thing..
has anyone heard of this before?
the only thing that i can see this doing is jusr re-starting the trials again.. which seems cool but the computer is just eggie fied.. and some things wont work.. like 4oD.. that worked before i started trying to format it ¬_¬ not it says some thing.. and yes i had re-installed etc.
so just seeing if this has happened to anyone else
What I would say is that your computer is confused as to the way you clicked "keep personal files", and is storing everything you have like pics, vids, games and programs etc. What I think you should do, is to put all of the files you want to keep, on a portable device, and then try to format your harddrive again, but this time, just allow it to wipe everything, and only reinstall the drivers, and the main components the computer needs to run. That way, your computer will have nothing on it, and you can just load the files off the portable device, and start from scratch. However: Packard bell computers are known to have faults, and I wouldnt be expecting 100% success from this. If this doesnt work, and the problem persists, then my only advice is to take it down to the pc world you got it from, and ask them could they format it, or repair it for you. CS
thanks for the reply =]
i have borrowed my dads computer and seeing if it works.. ill do it at weekend though as it takes ages to set everything back up
