My sister's just got a virus on her PC called ''Trojan.Downloader'' and she's asking me for help but I don't know anything about them. Thing is, she uses AVG which isn't that good and she's clicked heal but it won't work. What can she do to get rid of it?

Sounds stupid, but would system restore work?      Like I said, don't know anything!

Thanks so much!

I recommend you use Spyware Doctor 5.5 Now this is a paid program, but they offer a 7 day trial. It will get rid of all that on there for you. Its the BEST one out there.

System restore may very well work, but you have to make sure you don't do a total system restore on your pc - otherwise your computer will go back to the way it was when you originally purchased it (brand new), and you'll lose EVERYTHING! I know this because it happened to me. The thing is I still don't know how to do a system restore that will go back to the way it was yesterday or two days ago, so I can't help you out there.

I would also try a couple websites dedicated to computers and viruses and things like that. TechGuy.org and PChell.com are a couple good sites that can help you with this. Good luck.

A Trojan downloader is usually a standalone program that attempts to hiddenly download and run other files from remote web and ftp sites. Usually trojan downloaders download different trojans and backdoors and activate them on an affected system without user's approval. Trojan downloader, when run, usually installs itself to system and waits until Internet connection becomes available. After that it attempts to connect to a web or ftp site, download specific file or files and run them.

To get rid of this try downloading a free anti-virus program like AVG and running that, do a scan, it should pick it up (a very popular virus) and then press remove.

Hope that helps,
Daniel
