Kaspersky is the most secure AV program on the market, as it's got the most advanced heuristics and a whole lot more customization than the rest of them. Higher detection rate, too. Avast is free but you must do a free registration, you get free updates for 14 months, and it has built-in spyware, and root-kit protection.
