Its name is: AshServ.exe It's currently on 22,664 k

I tried to end process but all it comes up with is: The operation could not be completed
Access denied...


Does anybody have any IDEAS how to get rid of it?

that aint a virus i don't think.. i have it on my computer

and as above above says.. i take it that it comes from Avast Anti Virus

ashserv.exe is part of the Avast Anti-virus Suite. This process is the main executable for this piece of software, and is important for the stable and secure running of your computer and should not be terminated.

Safe mode, and then run virus scan or even manually delete if you can locate it (file search including hidden files/folders).

It's an executable file. You can uninstall it/remove it yourself.

Have you gone into your start menu under programs? All of the things I've managed to pick up like that have been listed in there, where I can uninstall them easily.
