My mom's computer has Norton AV 2004 installed- and until 2 days ago she has had no problems..
The subscription has been expired for quite some time, but just 2 days ago security alerts from norton began popping up ...repeatedly.  The alert states: Your computer is at risk in the following areas:
-virus protection is out of date.
Open your Norton Product to resolve these issues.

and a box that you can check which says" Do not share Norton Security Status with other products"

When OK is clicked, the alert pops up again in approximatley 5 seconds..every single time.
It is driving me insane!>!

What should I do to fix this?  I don't think I want to simply pay for a new subscription...this alert has pissed me off quite a bit so I don't think I'm going to give Norton any more of my money.

That happened to me, but if its what I'm thinknig of you'll ahve to pay. That's the only way you can get updates off the site and keep your computer...well, uh, updated

Try re-installing.. norton is a pain .. my suggestion, go for kaspersky (you probably never heard about it) but beleive me.. it is by far the most advanced antivirus software i have seen

You are right.. I haven't heard of it.  I might look into it though.
