Problem: Whenever I open or use certain programs, usually Word, Opera and Unreal Tournament, my computer restarts by itself. Usually, when it comes on again, it shuts down, only this time, as soon as you double click that program. After 2 or 3 times, the computer freezes, and it doesnt restart for a while.

Apparently, this is a virus, which I have TRIED to get rid of. I tried norton, and like, everything, it doesn't work.

After I used norton, it went away for like, a day.

It's really pissing me off.

Now, it's time to sell this piece of crap and get a new computer. But, I need to know, If I save files and copy them to the new computer, will that one get the virus, too?

Or should I download and install everything all over again?

Help, please.

If you know any way to get rid of the virus other than formatting, please say. Any suggestion will do.

Thanks, it's much appreciated.

Try disconnecting from the internet and removing it. And then installing a patch before reconnecting.

You can easily solve this by firstly backing up your files (no the virus won't be transferred), then formatting the hard drive by reinstalling XP (I guess you're using XP). If you want any more help you can PM me ;)
