I feel like at some level I've always thought about it... But tonight i've really been thinking about it. Basically, i've noticed that I prefer certain styles of music on certain drugs. Like, when i'm stoned I really like to listen to reggae and dub. Chill out shit... Kinda the same with pain killers. Then when I drink I really like to listen to rap, specifically the more common stuff which is really unlike me. So, alcohol makes your taste in music shitty. And then of course (although i've never done it) ecstasy most certainly goes with electronic music. And all that ambient styled music for the psychedelics.  I dunno maybe i'm the only one who thinks about that kinda shit lol but haven't any of you ever noticed a preference for one genre or another on certain substances?

I guess it depends on who you're hanging out with as well. Most of my friends listen to hip-hop, so I guess this is more for situations in which you have complete control over the choice of music. But it's kind of cool I think...

I can listen to anything when I'm stoned, but I could only listen to dance/some rap when I used to take ecstasy!

This is definitely true.  My mood determines what music I enjoy at that moment.  Drugs affect my mood.  Therefore drugs determine what music I enjoy.

Same. When Im high, there are songs I have to listen to, and others I can stand. When Im sober, its the other way around

Yeah I didn't really think about the difference between intoxicated and sober... There are definitely songs that are more appealing while high and that sound awful when you are sober.  Just the other day I heard this "bad ass dub group named Bush Chemists" and then I listened to it sober with my friend and it was pretty horrible haha.

Only with MDMA for the most part which I perfer DnB and jungle only. Anything else just kills my roll, especially rap. Never understood "thizzin", but as for anything else, I love mixing it up. Rock, rap, DnB, Jungle, reggae, metal, etc.

i really just think it comes down to personal preference but i would agree certain types of music do sound better on certain types of drugs

Yeah it's definitely personal preference... Thats what I meant by if you had control over the music.  So if you had you choice over the music, your personal preferences, do you tend to lean towards one genre more than another.

There really isn't any stereotypical genre to go with drugs other than techno for MDMA and to some degree reggae, but basically just Bob Marley, to Marijuana.
