You may have pressed shift too many times in a row.  I think if you press shift 5 times in a row, it keeps it on all the time.  That might be what happened. I would try pressing it a few times in a row, and see if it gives you an option.  Otherwise, just restarting you computer should make it go away. I think it's the shift key... lol.
