This does not happen when I use Google Doc (which is like Microsoft Office but online as an extension of your gmail account). So. Where exactly does my gmail stuff get stored? Where does everything I save on the Internet get stored while I'm gone? this is a real question

You've got a point, where in the world is it saved. It's a server, is what it is. One big, big server that they use just for it. Think of LiveWire. Where is it saved? Same kind of area.
