With the Internet still in full swing on "Web 2.0 era" where do you see things progressing in the near future or even 5 to 10 years from now?

I see the strong growth of the Semantic Web where computer will begin to understand tasks that once humans were needed for when searching data. Of course this had already been around, but will continue to pick up full force making life even easier than it already is. This will embrace the value of the current Web 2.0 trends and boost us beyond for a more perfect Web.

I think the internet will become interconnected with the desktop. More and more people will be connected to the internet and applications will use it more seamlessly, like it is in the iPhone.

My personal view is that there will be a lot more interaction in the 'cloud' with all electronic devices.  The mobile world is not quite there yet, and many personal devices aren't.  But as data over the air goes down in price, I'm hoping that we will see a very smooth transition between our personal devices..

phone.. pc.. mp3 player.. digital camera.. etc

They all say the semantic web is the next big thing, but personally I think it will take a while for it to get to a useable level (in that the results have quite a meaningful outcome), and it will never totally replace the current model we have. Basically I imagine slow market adoption.
You really think so? W3C is pushing it very hard, and we are already seeing it through RDF/OWL.

It's in the dictionary some guy made.

It's literally one word.

I'm just dumbfounded that 'Web 2.0' is a word.
Hopefully they don't go slinging around Web 3.0. I better go trademark it.
