I will have to put it in park and crank it back up. Usually it cranks right back up, like it did today at a light, but then I had to stop at a stop sign and it took me three or four tries to crank it back up. I was wondering if anyone would know what was wrong with it...My grandparents are saying maybe the fuel injector, but I have no clue. It just sucks having a car I'm scared to drive. And it doesn't do it all the time, just sometimes. It can go for weeks without doing it at all, and then it can do it several times in a row.

Replies JulieisWHOA Posted at 5:25 pm on July 7, 2008 I'm gonna check to make sure everything is cleaned and not clogged, get a new fuel filter, and research the sea foam. lol After the boyfriend said that wasn't it, he changed his mind the second I posted that. lol But yeah. I put in premium gas today. It was fine driving home, but I don't know. Your boyfriend apparently doesn't know jack fucking shit about cars then. What you start with, is the mass airflow. If it's stalling, you COULD be having a bad reading from that sensor. That is why you have it cleaned. If that doesn't do anything, the next thing is checking idle speed. Does it stop running in park, or only while in D, 3, 2, or 1? (You could maybe not have a 3, but only D, 2, 1 depending on the cavalier's transmission. The next step would be checking your fuel filter which is under the car. Bad fuel flow at low rpm's could starve the engine of fuel, and it would just shut off. If its really dirty it can cause idling problems. Is the check engine light on? If so take it to a auto parts store and get them to run the code. I'm just so broke. lol. I can't afford premium gas...but I may try that.
