| also another positive about diesel is, the colossal torque they give means they are incredibly fast and can take a good beating as well. |

| VW Jetta and Beetle with the TDi engine. Still, I don't think the MPG is that great. EPA rates it in the 30's, owners see 40-50's on average |

Oh dear Jesus... Diesel gets better MPG. I'm going to use an example that even you should be able to understand. Would you rather pay 3.19 per regular gallon and get 21 MPG or pay 4.01 and get 39 MPG? These are extremes of course but yeah...
actually not always true..
For the sake of the topic it makes the most sense.
What is a diesel car, easily available in the US, that gets SIGNIFICANTLY better than a similar standard fuel vehicle. Keep in mind, it has to get millage that justifies the extra $0.75/gallon. |

Please. Prius is fucking pointless. If you give a flying fuck about miles-per-gallon get diesel or a super light subcompact. The new '08 Jetta TDI diesel is safer, better built, more luxurious, and gets almost 15MPG on average better then Prius. Not to mention it will be more reliable. Prius becomes useless and worthless the second the batteries die.
Dont know about other parts of the country, but around here, diesel runs $0.75 more than premium. Kinda defeats the purpose.
Way to fail oh so hard.
How do I fail? I dont control the price of diesel. And its true. No one drives anything diesel around here (aside from large trucks) because its just way to expensive.

| Buy something at LEAST 10 years old, preferably something older than you yourself. And make sure it has no more than 6 cylinders. That way when you get something your actually mature enough to own and appreciate, you'll actually feel like you stepped up in the world. |

Most european diesel cars get 50+ mpg. It would be worth the extra few dollars per tank it if those cars were HERE IN THE US
I agree |

| Well I'm pretty sure everyone knows that the Prius is a piece of fucking garbage. The only way it even gets 40mpg is because toyota took all the weight out of it. shitty interior, etc etc etc Pretty sure Top Gear blew it up for a reason, and they even accepted the new mustang gt. |
