I'd say the 2009 Pontiac G8 ST, a car-based sport truck from Australia, was dead on arrival. Sad fact is; it never arrived. General Motors has canceled the G8 ST and an executive at Pontiac-Buick-GMC has stated that this is part of their recovery plan approved by congress when General Motors requested government financial assistance in the form of an emergency bailout. Said Pontiac spokeswoman said its because they want to focus on more fuel efficient cars like the re-badged Chevrolet Aveo5, the Pontiac Wave. Essentially what this means is, say goodbye to the G8 and hello to the Aveo with a Pontiac badge. The spokeswoman went on to say that the brand is to be downsized extensively, as Buick was in the early 2000s. Its possible that once again Pontiac will be reduced to nothing but automatic-only, I4/V6-powered, front wheel drive economy cars.

In other news, Saab is for sale. Joining Hummer in the new section of GM brands that nobody wants to buy.

The Europeans get such better cars than us. The Focus ST over there is supposed to be a beast, if a little heavy, and underpowered compared to the mazda.
The Focus ST is just the Volvo S40 T5.

Same power Same engine Same drivetrian and same chassis but lighter thanks to lack of luxurys compared to volvo, and quite abit cheaper and better looking.

The RS is what is the real beast.

Lucky bastards. Though I heard the new RS costs more then a GT500, but that prolly has something to do with the economy and such.

European market Focus is what I was referring to.

As for your second q, yes. I'm fucking broke. I only have $160 in my wallet at the moment. FUCKK.

soldierofjustice3 Posted at 7:19 pm on Jan. 9, 2009
Uh huh. Because the build quality of my MS3 is really all that similar to a focus. The USDM focus isn't even built on the same platform.

Is fish raping season running late this year? Is that why your panties are all bunched up these days?

Edmunds. LMFAO.

soldierofjustice3 Posted at 6:34 pm on Jan. 9, 2009
Edmunds say the 09 goes for 43,125 w/o destination charge. The 08 was in the mid 42's.

Everywhere says 31k for the SS.

Sorry, but you've just got bad information. The Mustang GT is MUCH more comparable than the GT500. Thats always been the issue with fords sports car lineup. They try to use the mustang as their plug and play item for everything. I think GM did itself a great favor by keeping such a high level of prestige for its Corvette, while making its own pony car.

Granted, not all the info is out about the Camaro, and the key word is *starts* at 31k, But even if the price creeps up to 33, or 34, its still not a bad deal. Its very comparable with the G8's pricing as well.

GT500 Pricing

SS starts at 30995

FTF Posted at 5:10 pm on Jan. 9, 2009
Firstly the GT500 starts at around $41,000. Secondly, I heard $45,000 for the SS. Which would make sense, since all other variants are priced two to five grand more then the equivalent 'Stang. For example, the Mustang starts at $3,000 less then the Camaro.
soldierofjustice3 Posted at 4:56 pm on Jan. 9, 2009
You know the GT500 starts at around 43k, and the SS is *supposed* to be 30k. That makes it pretty far apart, in terms of price, and much closer to the Mustang GT (Around 25-27k) for comparison purposes.

If you look at it that way, you get the Camaro SS with over 100hp MORE than the comparatively priced Mustang GT.

The Rampage/Dakota/Dodge sport truck rumors started today, and that reminded me.

If Nardelli goes through with these talkings, its official that Dodge > Chevy in my opinion.
