Justifying your own actions versus what everyone else in society thinks of you. I think that pretty much sums up everything.

That's pretty much what peer pressure's all about. Sex and appearance are both peer pressure. When the whole group of other people (and I'm talking about the whole damn planet here) pressure you to do something, it's like you're shutting out something that's completely natural: cause and effect. There's a reason why x thing happens, but peer pressure almost suppresses that.
