| The current columbian goverment is basically a puppet goverment for America. The American private contracters show that clearly. They dont really run drugs they tax the drug industry I dont agree with this at all. The fact is most Third world south American nations are the same way. |

| Northern Ireland would be an example of where this phrase ends - once you start deliberately murdering innocent civilians, you don't get to be called a freedom fighter any more. |

I agree. The media gives a very one sided view, just calling them terrorists. Which they are but never really reasons why they are. America just wants a base in the middle east, so they are a kind of threat to other middle eastern countries and of course the oil. I hate the damn government.
Are you unaware of the definition of a terrorist? A terrorist is someone who primarily uses terror, especially on civilians, in order to scare and pressure a group of people into giving them what they want. AL-Qaeda and various insurgent groups in Iraq are therefore terrorists because they primarily use suicide bombings and car bombs in civilian areas in order to terrorize entire cities of people. They distribute sick, terrible propaganda such as videos of non-muslims being executed with AKs and also videos of people getting their heads sawed off with knives, in order to instill fear in people. As for the quote, yeah i suppose the terrorists see themselves as freedom fighters but who cares? They're still just some fucking terrorists
Kind of like when the American government targeted the citizens of Iraq and attempted to starve them out with illegal sanctions?
If your going for 'bad things America has done to the Iraqi people', I'd probably go the illegal invasion which killed an estimated 650'000 people. Then the hasty withdrawal plans that leave the country and its populence in no better condition than when they entered it, except now its prone to a bloody civil war. |

Your first link doesn't cite any sources and is wrong by most contemporary accounts. Your second link actually says that there was no direct connection between the Arab Afghans and the United States. 2. The US (and Iran) both backed what became known as the Northern Alliance, native Afghans fighting against the Soviet occupation. The Taliban were a creation of the Pakistani intelligence who allied with Arab and Pakistani fundamentalist islamists. The group that was to become the Taliban were led by Mullah Omar and would be an ally to Osama bin Laden. These two sides, the native Islamist Afghans and Arab Afghans were both fiercely anti American and received aid from Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. The Northern Alliance was a hodgepodge of Afghan ethnic groups and it's ideology was rooted in nationalism more than Islamism. They were led by Ahmed Shah Massoud with support from the US and Iran. Yes, these two groups sided with each other during the Soviet occupation, but let's not forget that the forces of communist Mao and western-leaning Shang Kai Shek put their civil war on hold to fight Japanese occupation. Massoud was pro-American whereas Mullah Omar and Osama bin Laden were always anti American. Osama bin Laden and Zawahiri also both categorically deny receiving any aid from the United States. It was the nationalist Afghanis that we funneled money to, the Islamists were allied with the ISS and Arab countries. |

America backed, and supplied Al Queda and Osama when the Soviets invaded Afghanistan, he was viewed as a "freedom fighter". Now that he's tuned his attention to the USA he's a terrorist.

| I made a topic relating to this. It's true. George Washington and the other founding fathers were terrorists... to the British. They were/are freedom fighters to Americans. |
