I'm well aware of the ridiculousness of this question, but I need some last minute help.
Im going to a wedding tonight, and Im picking up a dress from Le Chateau in about an hour, but it's black and my mom's saying that black at a wedding is a really bad idea.
This is the dress (it'll be in black)

Is that an old fashioned rule, or should i stick with black?

black is always appropriate. if i were you, i'd wear a white (or light colored) cardigan with it and maybe a green or pink or white stone if you have one.

I'm wearing red heels with it, does that work instead of a cardigan? hah

hmm, i'm all for red heels, but it might be a little out of place at a wedding. typically weddings are centered around pastels and mild, muted colors.

but its up to you. you'll look cute, just be prepared to stand out.

Haha I think I'm gonna grab the dress in a lighter color,
you helped heaps!
Thanks :)

I agree with your mum. Being older (but not necessarily old fash) she'd know the dress codes for a wedding shouldn't be black. Ask her for advice on alternative.
