There is no rule against spelling errors.  However, we have a specific feature that lets us switch letters to lowercase.  I generally make use of that.  Also, failtags just end up in a thread full of "Fail" or "Fail... +1" so I edit those as fast as I can to make the posts worth something. Then of course I edit things so that they agree with what I say! Those are the only good reasons I could see for fixing typo-esque errors. edit: To answer your hypothetical question....I know of no rule that says we can't.  Then again....I'm new.....
