Can mods edit posts just to fix spelling errors? :/

Okay, I'm asking more if they're ALLOWED to.

If a mod was going through every topic fixing every single spelling error, it is of my opinion that it is over moderation.

There is no rule against spelling errors.  However, we have a specific feature that lets us switch letters to lowercase.  I generally make use of that.  Also, failtags just end up in a thread full of "Fail" or "Fail... +1" so I edit those as fast as I can to make the posts worth something.

Then of course I edit things so that they agree with what I say!

I will sometimes edit someone's post, for example if they screw up trying to post a Youtube video or they post entirely in uppercase.

that's what a good moderator does

The letters CBA come to mind.

Although I agree with DefaultTo0. Those are the only good reasons I could see for fixing typo-esque errors.

edit: To answer your hypothetical question....I know of no rule that says we can't.  Then again....I'm new.....

Still, I don't think any of us are that anal

But say a mod was extremely OCD and couldn't stand misspelled words... >.>

They won't edit posts for that reason.

 But CAN they?

Yes, they can edit posts.

I'm well aware of that.

I'm saying can they edit them just to fix spelling errors, or would that beagainst some sort of mod rule?
