i have a tenner to spend on ingredients ...so it cant be that expensive...

I can make decent macaroni and cheese, spaghetti bolognaise, meatballs etc....
Anyone got anything that'l look more impressive?

Pizza idea sounds decent...how'd i go about doing that?

Are you making those from scratch or are you buying pre-made stuff and just.. microwaving it? Present it nicely and it'll be fine, and add vegies for a balanced meal and some color.

Eg make mac and cheese or spag bol, with meatballs.
Chop up lettuce, tomato, carrots, baby corn, bean sprouts etc, and toss it together into a salad. Mix with salad sauce or just oil and vinegar, and set it on top of the mac and cheese.

Present everything on a white plate if you have those. Don't have things looking mushy or mixed up. And a tall glass looks good next to anything.

From scratch, live away from home for university so ive had to learn to cook pretty quickly...

Mac n'cheese presented nicely is a brilliant idea
Mabey some garlic bread and cheese aswell?

And a few quid left over for a bottle of wine...

Hmmm

Mushroom shrimp scampi and rice.
Ingredients will cost you less than $20.
You can get some uncle ben's rice in one of those microwave pouches.
Shrimp:
1/4 pound of large prawns
1 lemon
a bunch of cilantro
a little bit of butter
a little bit of cooking wine
3 or 4 large mushrooms
chopped garlic
salt and pepper

Brown your butter, throw in shrimp, throw in garlic and mushrooms, when shrimp are about halfway done, juice your lemon into it, add a little bit of white cooking wine and your chopped cilantro.  Finish with salt and pepper.
Made this for my girlfriend on her birthday, was apparently the best dinner she ever had.
Oh, and don't ask for measurements, just eyeball everything. Measuring stuff is for chumps.

Cheers for the effort man!

Slight stumbling block is that i cant stand fish..even though she really likes it id rather not have to try and hold stuff down that i dont like.

Would it be weird if i made myself something different?

Ahhhhhhh, tomorow should be interesting...

Keep the suggestions coming!

What ingredients do you have? Or will you go out and buy them?

Cook pasta in water and put it on a plate
Heat pasta sauce and pour it on pasta, but nicely so that it sits on the middle of the pasta
Stir fry green peppers and mushrooms (put it on stovetop, add oil and salt + heat)
Put it on top of the sauce on the pasta
Microwave pre-made chicken, beef or meat balls, put it on the side on the pasta
Sprinkle on herbs

Tall glass of water or juice

Depends what ingredients you have. Do you have meats of any kind, pizza bases etc?

You could make her homemade pizza, and even spell out something with the topping if you're feeling corny enough.

Make handmade chocolate covered strawberries....they're really easy. Buy a big chocolate bar, and melt it in the microwave... or I think now they even sell a jar of chocolate that is made for fruit. Girls love this...its sexy but sweet.
