The beginning is marked "Quarter note = 112" which is self explanatory, but then the time signature modulates from 4/4 to 6/8. My guess is to keep going at the same tempo, and I'm assuming the eighth not gets the beat (because it is in 6/8) but then again sometimes the beat is meant for the dotted quarter note
Also, later on in this piece the tempo is marked with "A tempo: dotted quarter note = 88" which furthers my feeling that in the beginning the dotted quarter note gets the beat. And on top of that "A tempo" means "first tempo" which would mean that that was the tempo at the initial 6/8 time.
Did I lose anyone...I think I've lost myself :(
Quote: from charolastra at 7:32 am on Aug. 11, 2008 the piece didn't notate the dotted quarter = quarter?Nope, it just went straight into the time change. There no recordings that I know of of this piece ("Believe Me If All Those Endearing Young Charms" Mantia//Werden) so I can't even turn to those...
the piece didn't notate the dotted quarter = quarter?
ughh, that's awful notation then. you should probably consult your director, my inclination would be to have the dotted quarter = 112 as well but with that a tempo marking, that just makes shit more confusing.
Usually in my music, the note that gets the beat is specified at the top. Does yours have that?
Hm..that's weird. I hate when music does that. Usually i just try to find a midi of the piece to listen to. That should help you. What song is it?
