well well well Posted at 7:18 am on Nov. 28, 2008
my ballet instructor and i have decided that we want me to study ballet more extensively. i'm reallllly excited, because i'm now taking two ballet classes a week, when i only used to take one, and i'm becoming involved in intensive summer workshops with adult dancers (i'm only 13!!!).  I know that this isn't really all that much, and i'm really not that special, but it excites me nonetheless...

I know that someday, hopefully soon, i'd like to study at a more professional dance studio, such as one in philidelphia (my home state is pennsylvania), or new york city, and i hope to one day study at the Royal Academy of Dance in Europe.

My question...I've seen ballerinas.  They're all so thin.  They're all so painfully thin, like I'd like to be.
I'm 5'8'' and 125 pounds. i'm trying to get down to at least 115, though my ultimate goal weight is 108.   Should that be enough? Or should I lose more?  I know that i'm not nearly thin enough to be professional right now...

also, how do i tell my mother that i'd like to dance professionally?
we're not...this richest of families. perhaps i should consult my dance teacher?  I think so.  she's giving me an extra class as a scholarship right now, maybe we could arrange private classes someday? hopefully?

but more, the weight question.
what is the average ballerina's weight, and height, and even BMI if you know?
dancers, may i have your stats please?
and your help.

Okay so just to tell you 1) you are thin enough.  I am a dancer and instructors will actually kick you out if you are underweight.  The ballerinas that dance and that are extremely thin are meant to be like that...its their body type.  you are thin enough as it is.  2) one of the guys i know is a professional dancer..along with his girlfriend.  My dance teacher is his best friend and his girlfriend is Ashley from the pussycat dolls.  His name is Kenny Wormald.  He is an AWESOME hip-hop dancer and he told us at a dance lesson he taught to us that really skinny dancers are GROSS.  you can see all their bones and it just pulls away from the dance.  so try to keep your weight healthy and not extremely thin.  Message me if you need anymore advice.  I have been dancing for 15 years and teaching for 2.  =]

You don't look 13 at all! lol And I think you're thin enough, but of course I know nothing about ballet.
