this film is awful. and by "awful" i mean it's amazing, but it makes you feel like utter shit about your life afterwards. it came out around 2000 and stars björk as a struggling single foreigner mother who is going blind due to an inherited condition. she works in a factory and also does the community theater's production of "the sound of music". aside from working at the factory, she also has a side job of putting together sets of hairpins for additional income, all of which goes to fund her son's eye surgery, which he does not know about, but she is doing because he too has the condition that his mother has. i could go on but i wouldn't want to spoil the movie because it's amazing. it's about 2 and a half hours long, but it goes by very quickly.

btw for björk/thom yorke fans, this is where "i've seen it all" comes from.

even if you don't like björk as a singer/songwriter, she can surprisingly act her ass off.

what are you waiting for? go see this already!
