The program is called Stellarium and you can download, for free, at http://www.stellarium.org
-Make sure to set your timezone once you download it -Set your coordinates accordingly for best results.
It's seriously amazing. It will show you where on your sky you can find any star, planet or constellation.
You will need to find your Earth coordinates. You can go to http://www.multimap.com and enter in your address and right click on the red circle over your address- then scroll down to the bottom right corner and it will give you your latitude and longitude coordinates.
This is a preview.
I've been playing with it all morning
Quote: from sleepisfordummies at 8:10 am on Aug. 4, 2008 i used to have that prog and had no idea how to use it. didn't know about that coordinate thing though. probably will give it a try again. When you have the program up, on the bottom of the screen (to the left), just go to the configuration window and then click on location and date & time. Just make sure those two things are set to your location and it should be fine
