I feel horrid because I don't want him to become ill from this. Anyone have suggestions? My boyfriend entices him with treats and toys, but he doesn't find them very desirable.

Replies Tempted Posted at 8:20 pm on June 25, 2008 I know it sounds weird, but you need to practice with your cat. I'm sure you have a routine before you leave the house (grab the keys, put on your coat, turn off the TV, etc.), and your cat recognizes this and probably immediately starts freaking out. What you need to do, is practice the routine. Get your cat in the room and get your coat and everything together and go out the door. Then, come right back in. Do it several times, staying outside longer each time. Your cat will eventually realize that you DO come back everytime you go out the door, and become less stressed. Do this everyday for about a week and it should help. My dog is kind of like that.
