| My dog does. My cat used to, but he lost that collar outside somewhere. |

| I've bought 3 tags for my cat at different points in time, but the bastard keeps losing his collar along with the tag somewhere in the wilderness. |

| I don't have my cat tagged, because she's an indoor cat, and wouldn't go outside. She has decided she wanted out one time. She was out for less than five minutes, and was on my porch, under the chair, in the corner, yowling. It's not a matter of, "What if she gets out?" It's more a matter of, "Who forced her to go out there, and how many stitches do they need?" I've got a scar across my chest for trying to take her outside more than five years ago. EDIT: But it makes me really happy that you care so much about the animals (or at least it seems you do). |

| ive never tagged cats because frankly, they are outdoor cats and have to be replaced often anyway lol. we don't tag our indoor dogs but my outside dog is tagged...our inside dogs never go out unless they're on a leash anyway PLUS all the neighbors know the miniature horse dog is ours and the bitty rat dog is ours LOL |

| My dogs don't however they have embroidered collars with their names and my home phone number on them. Also, both my dogs are very easily distinguished so even if one did decide to take my dogs home and ignore the collars (that is *if* they decided to run away) it'd be easy for anyone to tell who's they are. |

I'm going for the "No, because cats climb trees and can easily be choked by a collar" option. Oh wait, I'm irresponsible because I don't want my cats to be throttled.
Oh. You should've gone for the "I'm already irresponsible enough to let my cat roam freely around outside so why bother with a collar?" option.
Oh. Perhaps you should come visit Britain where 95% of people let their cats outside. I'm sure my cats would rather wander around my quiet garden and surrounding area than be unnaturally cooped up inside.
Don't base your actions on what other people do. And yeah. Buying a cat like merchandise is real natural. You purchased a living being and all the responsibility that comes along with it, including keeping it safe.
There's a balance between keeping it safe and enjoying it's life. One other responsibility is to let them enjoy life as much as possible, which, unfortunately includes a risk of being run over on the small road outside. I'd rather they roll around in the sun, climb trees, chase birds (oh no! what's that? natural behaviour?!) than wander round indoors with a fluffy mouse for entertainment. |

They sell safe collars that will unlatch if they get caught on something so the cat doesn't choke. We used them for our cats. |

My dog has a collar with his name, our address and phone number, along with his rabies vaccination and a tag where we got him from too. My uncle lives with us and he doesn't put a collar or a tag on his dog and it drives me nuts.
Marry me.
I love that you care so much about this. Most guys I know don't give two shits about the animals even they have, let alone anyone else's. I like you, you're a good people. You make me just want to go get a tiny little collar and an itty bitty tag for my rat, haha.
I watch a lot of Judge Judy. Irresponsible people make me angry. And responsible people turn me on. =\ |
