Hello all,

Some of you may have heard it from other sources, but this is the story of a 7 month old fox terrier who got brutally tortured and murdered in Moranbah, Queensland, Australia on October 20th 2008. You can get all the horrifying details, as well as an update on the case the Australian police has opened here: http://www.peanutslaw.com/story.html

The owners of the pup, Danielle and Karen Neilson have put together a petition to demand the maximum available penalty under the Australian law for those two men, who are trying to avoid punishment by pleading insanity and who apparently are responsible for other similar cruelty acts.

Please, if you want to do something about it, go here:

http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/maximum-penalty-for-the-men-who-hacked-up-a-puppy

or use the link provided on the first site and sign the petition. They need 100,000 signatures and so far they gathered about 42,000. And if it's not too much to ask, tell others about it, forward the link.

Unfortunately, the max penalty is only two years in jail.....

How will signing a petition alter the result of the trial? And why should it? Law is not subject to popular opinion.
