Over the past few days you may have noticed some avatars or images presented by members and moderators which are of an nude artistic nature.

There has been a lot of discussion between moderators about how we should handle these images, if we should allow them on our servers, if we should have them at all on the site.

The moderation has come to the decision of the following guidelines to be observed of nudity in art and similar things:-

- To disallow any form of nudity in avatars
- To disallow any form of nudity in image baskets.
- To allow nudity (as a link from an external site) if it is present in a reasonable form in art in the midst of a legitimate discussion of art. (No Photographs)

Also there has been some confusing over what we allow for swimwear and similar clothing.

As a moderation team we have decided that we do not want images of people in underwear posted in on the site nor to have swimwear out of context.

- You may not post/upload images of yourself or others in underwear
- You may only post/upload yourself in swimwear for a suitable location, such as at a beach or pool.

We have decided upon this as we don't want pictures on LiveWire of young teenagers simply posing with near to no clothes on, or to post pictures to simply be sexually suggestive.

If you have any questions concerning this please don't hesitate to ask.

This announcement is in line with LiveWire's existing policies on nudity. Thank you big head for the announcement.

Sadly, i think many of yoru mods didnt realise this. Your mods really need a lil training in image guidlines at least.

All of my favorite avatars have nudity. I mean most of them don't even show genitalia. It's all beautiful art. I hate this policy.

Next it'll be swearing banned on LW. And here I thought we were the uncensored forum board.
There is a guideline for that: (selected)

Dave was pretty glad when he got rid of that advertising company or whatever that wanted us to censor all our posts...

Swearing doesn't always = vulgar or abusive, just as nudity doesn't always = pornography.

I don't see anything wrong with artistic nudity. I see the human body as art, and I know I'm far from being the only one with that opinion. Audrey's avatar was a bit out there, but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

Are statues included in this? I remember seeing an avatar of Michelangelo's David.
I was wondering the same.

That should be approved anyway. There's no genitalia or anything showing.

"To allow nudity (as a link from an external site) if it is present in a reasonable form in art in the midst of a legitimate discussion of art. (No Photographs) "

We didn't do the "no genitalia thing" we did blanket nudity.
