Respect the spirit in which the feature was created   Abuse of the anonymous feature will be deemed an offense.   Moderating the anonymous feature   We pledge that we will never reveal the identity of anonymous posters.   Please note that because people/trolls unfortunately do abuse the anonymous feature, moderators will sometimes have to check anonymous posters - this is necessary for us to do our job (catching trolls, getting rid of spam, etc.). If you want more complete anonymity from all of LW, then use your secondary accounts, which are allowed specifically for this reason.   The Times They Are A-Changin'   It should be stressed that before this announcement, policy regarding the anonymous feature was unclear. However, from hereon in, the mod team will be viewing abuse of the anonymous feature somewhat disdainfully. The current status quo, whereby the feature is abused so much that genuine users get assumed to be trolls on a balance of probabilities by other users is prevents people from getting the help for which the feature was set up is completely unacceptable and has to change.   Awesomeness,   Da Modz0rs
