The Question Bob doesn't know if there is a God or not. From this we can infer that Bob is a(n)...
-edit- Mere minutes in, and I have 57 votes, 83% of which are miserable fail. I proclaim my topic to be win.
-more editing- This made me laugh so hard, and proved my point so perfectly, that it deserves inclusion in the OP.

-EDITING- Even after an explanation of why the correct answer is the correct answer the failsauce continues to pour down like mana from the sky. Glorious.

That's weak atheism.
The main definition (which I have bolded) encompasses stances incompatible with weak atheism and refers solely to epistemology, not cosmology.
I have once again stumbled upon this thread. It's not my fault if you don't understand what I'm saying (if you understood it then you wouldn't have said that I didn't know what "ignorant" means).
Then please clarify yourself. You complain that we won't get anywhere with this debate, but I genuinely would like to reach an understanding. That will only happen if we go into our misunderstandings rather than merely complaining about them and moving on.
And, since it clearly has to be said twice, "I leave this pointless argument, because we could continue this quibble forever and never get anywhere. Have a nice day."
Why does it have to be said twice? Am I not allowed to respond to you once you say that, even though you keep posting in the topic?
Let's call it a draw and leave it at that
You want us to lie?!
In your first post you said, "Bob doesn't know if there is a God or not". That may or may not mean that he believes one can't know for sure if there is a god. Which means that either he is an agnostic, or he doesn't know if he's an agnostic, which by default would make him an agnostic in the slightly more obscure definition.
Incorrect. It is quite possible for Bob, given what we know of him, to believe that one can have absolute knowledge of whether or not there is a god. In this case Bob would not be an agnostic. As such, we cannot infer from the information that we have that Bob is an agnostic.
Try making a bit of sense; everything you said before your closing statement doesn't prove that agnostics are either atheists or theists.
I'm sorry; I'm probably just not being clear with my points which is why I come off as making no sense. I'll try to explain it a different way. There are two questions. Each question requires a "yes" or "no" response, and groups you into one of two categories.
1) Can we know whether or not their is a god? Yes: Gnostic (rarely termed as such) No: Agnostic
2) Do you believe in god? Yes: Theist No: Atheist
You can see how every gnostic is an atheist or theist, and every atheist and theist is either gnostic or agnostic, because they are two different categories.
But at page 5 of this useless topic you are still no closer to proving that "all LW members are ignorant fucks" - all you've proven is that if you make a statement that people don't agree with, then they will argue against it.
I thought that by now it would be clear that that was the point.
Just because other people think differently from you doesn't make them ignorant.
I've never said anything of the sort.
It makes you ignorant.
Are you sure you know what that word means?
Quote: from obvious child at 9:37 pm on July 14, 2008 The problem wilder, is that you didn't define atheism properly. There is hard atheism and soft atheism. Agnosticism is generally associated with soft atheism, where hard is a solid rejection in a belief in a higher power. Since Bob doesn't know but has not stated a rejection of a belief in a higher power, he must be an agnostic. I didn't define the terms because the actual definitions stand. Agnosticism relates to whether or not knowledge of gods can be had, not weak atheism. One can be a weak atheist and not an agnostic, for exmple, by saying "I'm unsure, but I do think that it's possible to know." We know that Bob doesn't believe in god, and is thus a weak atheist. We do not know whether or not Bob believes knowledge of gods existence is possible either way, and thus we cannot say whether or not he is agnostic. But at page 5 of this useless topic you are still no closer to proving that "all LW members are ignorant fucks" - all you've proven is that if you make a statement that people don't agree with, then they will argue against it. And with that, I leave this pointless argument, because we could continue this quibble forever and never get anywhere. Have a nice day.
if all people on LW are ignorant fucks as you so delicately put it, then that makes you a(n).......? the answer is agnostic.
the answer is agnostic.
the correct answer for him is "AN IGNORANT FUCK".
NEEDLESS TO SAY, at least i dont give head.
The OP contains a link to one of my posts in this thread which explains why you are incorrect (though if LW allowed it I would probably have just quoted PoP's explanation and left it at that). I would recommend using said link.
