Topic I hate how people assume that you have to be a certain way.

If you like the creative arts, writing, music, or whatever.

I tried joining the Creative Arts club at my school one time, and everyone in the club immediately pegged me as shallow/fake/untalented because I don't come off as really fucking weird.

Yes, I had to admit it, but everyone in the club was strange. They acted strange, they dressed strangely. They were, simply put, STRANGE. There's nothing wrong with that, more power to them, but they automatically assumed that because I didn't act like "strange" like them, that I was a fake, or I sucked at painting.

I don't actually. I reckon I'm pretty good.

Why do I have to look a certain way to be deep? To be quirky?

Yes, I'm quirky, but that doesn't tend to play out in my clothing. Why do I have to have a streak of blue in my hair, wear all black, or make strange comments to be as quirky or talented like them? (this refers directly to the type of people who were in the club)

Maybe I like dressing in clothes that have  a certain degree of "conformity".

God, that pisses me off.

i find that annoying as well. i know girls that are utmost normal in appearance and they do pastels and drawings that blow my mind one of the preppiest friends i have has the deepest poetry that made me cry. and i know strange people that cant draw or write worth a crap..... appearance matters not.

personally I'm the weird drawer so I'm on of the strange people.... only because Ive tried to be normal and it was more difficult than i liked

hmm...idk some artists are strange.
but their wrong, you dont need to dress a certain way or act a certain way to join a club like that.
and screw what they say about how you paint.
the way i look at it is, as long as you like it, it shouldnt matter what other people think.
dont let other people bring you down. everybody can be an artist if they are willing to make an effort

They're just playing the part. It makes them feel that they're better.

Discrimination can be found against anyone.  If they don't want you, fuck em, because it doesn't take a club to enjoy an art.

People base opinions on appearance since they are little. Don't expect them to change because they're older.
