And that will be the death of us.

I was thinking about this after I read that on the new season of America's Next Top Model, there will be a transgendered boy (who is now a girl) in the competition.

I have nothing against these people, but it made me think, where does America draw the line? When is something unacceptable?

We even make excuses for those who go postal and go on killing sprees. "It's because they were lonely" or "It's because he was an outcast".

Where is the line drawn in America? Can anyone name something in America that is truly considered unacceptable, and doesn't have 50 "Pro-whatever" people arguing for it?

So it's a bad thing when we treat other people like real people?  Thanks, it's lovely that we live in such an accepting world.

Being transgendered doesn't infringe on anyone else's rights.

  Exactly.

Having a sense of compassion for other human beings doesn't either.

  duh.

That wasn't the point of this post. The point was, America keeps drawing the line further and further. Everything is "acceptable". Why is that?

Because as long as it doesnt hurt anyone else, whos to tell others how to live?

For real.

Isn't it a GOOD thing that we're so accepting? It's better to be "too" accepting than not accepting at all, like many other countries.

The answer is no. Do you know how high the violent crime rate is in China compared to the U.S.? Very very low. Look it up sometime. Teen pregnancy in the middle east... existent but very very rare. I'm not saying that such a high radicalism is right on but it does have a notable effect at stopping criminals. If the U.S. cracked down on first time offenders then there would be less second time offenders. Being too accepting gets you taken advantage of. Being harshly unaccepting gets you feared. There needs to be a medium line.

Do you know how many billions of dollars we've spent helping illegal immigrants while our own citizens are homeless and hungry? Do you know how much money we've given to nations like China and Japan by outsourcing jobs because they needed them while our economy is slowly slipping into recession?  The U.S. should bend over backwards with a sign declaring "fuck me I'm accepting" for all the shit we've been put through for our live and let live attitudes. When you're looking for a job and can't find one blame your accepting attitude. When the Mexicans down the road can get free housing after losing a job they weren't allowed to have and you're put on a waiting list for six months, blame that same accepting attitude. And when your child is put into the mix of all of this and is taken away because you can't get foodstamps or any sort of assitance in hard times because the Somolians and Mexicans have used up a whole year's budget on their ancor children in one month blame that accepting attitude.

If you read almost every single post in this topic you've got the answer to your original question. No there is no line. When child rapists have advocates we're all fucked.

Everyone should have an advocate. Certainly, a child rapist should be severely punished for him crime, but are you saying we should deny him help? Human compassion? Some sort of humanity?

Even Hitler had a reason for being all Hitler-like.

I'm not saying be inhumane to them. I'm just saying that no they don't deserve an advocate because the majority of psychiatrists say that child molesters cannot be rehabilitated. They have a pre-existing state of mine that children are sexually attractive. It's sick.

And Hitler doesn't need an advocate. Had Hitler had no advocates or followers there would have been a stop to the violence that incurred during his reign in Germany long before the liberation or building of the death camps across Europe. Murderers, rapists, and even some theives do not deserve compassion, help, or a second chance to devestate a life again. When you get older and have children you might understand better.

um... pedophiles? they have the death sentence for them in some states, don't they?

Pedophilia is not a crime in any state.

 are you serious???

I believe you're referring to child molestation. Pedophilia is being attracted to children; nobody ever went to prison for being attracted to anything. At least not in America. I mean, not anytime recently at least.

yeah that's what i meant xx

It depends how recently you mean. Think Oscar Wilde.

Some states still have the death penalty, but they dont ever use it.

and no, most pedophiles are released after a few years imprisonment.

shit... ok america has no limits xx
 so what about baby murderers?

yeah murders are punished decently usually. A baby killer would get life in prison most likely.

There are alot of dangerous people who are let off too easy though.

that's it, i'm never going to america

Once again, not the point. I'm not telling them, or anyone else how to live.

I am simply asking, where does America draw the line?

I appreciate that America is so open minded, but I think that we also have no boundaries. And knowing human nature, people will take it too far.

It shouldnt have a line. Thats what America is about
