In the metaphorical sense.

I'm sick of getting hurt, of feeling pain, of hurting others. I'm done with it. Of course, I'll still feel it, but I'll hide it. If I'm pissed, I won't show it. Same goes for if I'm happy, sad, upset, worried, distant, etc. If I don't show my emotions, no one can hurt me. At least, they won't think they're able to hurt me.

Maybe it's not the best idea, but it's the best I've got. I don't know if it's good for my mental health or really bad, but I need to toughen up and stop being such a big crybaby.

Who knows, maybe it's a life lesson.

Isn't that how people become bitter and twisted?

That's not the healthiest way of dealing with emotions.. I see your point but it will only cause more problems, as your emotions will build up and cause you to lash out after some time. It's normal to show emotions, instead of letting them build up inside, unless you have some way to vent.

I've been the same way for my whole life. People usually know what I'm thinking, but ONLY if I'm happy. Otherwise, no one EVER knows.
