That is all.

we live in a world where 16 year olds have their own show for being pregnant.

where teenagers are going on maury because they don't know who their child's father is.

Where cheating is insanely common, and there's just so many stupid people.

This is why I'm single. Nobody knows what honesty, respect, trust, commitment, and everything else is.

-_- at least I know my daddy raised me right :D

/RANT.

Lol no one's really an exception, it's just the extent of how bad their actions are and how frequent the mishaps can be that are different. Therefore, you can hope people will do the right thing, but always be prepared for them to disappoint you.
Charlei Posted at 4:45 pm on May 10, 2012

So because you have shitty friends, no one is a decent person...?

The Last Magister Posted at 3:21 pm on May 10, 2012
Oh I always give people the benefit of the doubt, I just try to keep in mind to have little to no expectations of anyone else because you're setting yourself up for disappointment. And you know what? It's saved me a lot of surprise and grief ever since I've started adapting that way of thinking. Oh? Druggy relapsed? Didn't think they had it in them to do otherwise. Friend did something stupid shitfaced? No duh, he's a drunk, what else do you expect him to do?

Aren't you clever?  You are real mature.

I hate the generalization that no one anyone is honest, respectful, trustworthy/trusting or committed.
fixed

so you're a young cynic or trying to be witty, way to go

we're all people still growing and trying to find ourselves, so naturally some fuck up at it

to try and claim something so conclusively when you're what, 20? 21? is a bit premature and part of the reason people might not consider you mature man

Yeah that makes complete sense. Because of a statistically TINY portion of the population (literally less than .0001%) being featured on the program "16 pregnant" or "maury", everyone is shitty and you should never date anyone.

OH LAWD THE LOGIC. ITS BLINDING.

And let's not forget that you're the ONLY person who knows what honesty, respect, trust, commitment and "everything else is".

My gosh, leave your city, your state, your country, and then tell me the rest of the generation is the same as those people you see on the scripted tv shows.

Oh yeah, and I forgot cheating just started happening twenty years ago.

I never said I was the only one who knew what it was.
the fuck?

I feel for you, the fact that over half my friends and acquaintances have cheated or been cheated on scares me. I think it has to do with people excusing their behavior as "natural urges". Yes, you have impulses but following what you know is wrong makes you an animal, not a person.

EXACTLY!

I'm honestly more worried about this young generation growing up with electronics and not knowing the fun of playing outside. If I ever have kids, there will be no TV / computer / video games in their bedroom, so that going to their room will actually be a punishment.

When I see 12 year olds with iPhones and PSPs and Nintendo DSs, I want to smash their parents' faces into a cast iron fence.

As annoying it can be (and as jealous as I am), this "technology" generation actually tends to show higher reasoning and problem solving skills than the older generations. We are very commonly used to figuring out complex patterns and ideas (programming the VCR without a manual, for example).

So although I certainly understand not wanting to completely immerse your child in an electronic world, you don't want to shut them out of it either.

Oh I'm a Grade-A computer geek (and IT Dept employee at my college) so I understand the value of technology in the real world. But I know too many people who do nothing but stare at their phones all day.

Sitting at a desk on the computer is one thing, but smart phones and other portable electronics make it possible to completely shut out the outside world, WHILE you're actually in it. My desktop computer is useless while walking down the sidewalk, or waiting for food at a restaurant, or whatever is not happening at my desk. So I have to do things like observe the landscape, and *gasp* interact with people around me.

I've lived in 3 different countries on 2 different continents, and have visited somewhere around 17 different countries within 3 continents.

How's Kansas though kiddo?  Bet it's a pretty hoppin place.

Why are you raging at her for agreeing with you?

I was actually just quoting you to show I agreed then saying my own thoughts.

Also, I've actually been out of this state quite a few times and out of the country once so... Kansas is actually pretty nice. Strangely enough, I don't live out in the middle of nowhere or on a farm.
