A number of members, new and old have asked various times as to how to use certain functions on LiveWire while posting, such as coloring, size, and font, to name a few. So I've decided to make a topic explaining the basic functions of how to post, and to hopefully help members have an easier time posting, and an easier time on everyone else answering these questions constantly.

    Index
  • 1. Starting a New Topic.
  • 2. LiveTags

1. Starting a New Topic

1. LiveWire- This link will take you to the welcome page of LiveWire.

2. Forum Group- This link will take you to one of the three main forum groups of LiveWire, Teen, College, and Technical depending on where the topic is being made.

3. Forum- This will take you to whatever forum you are posting in, which in this case would be Deep Thoughts & Random Musing.

4. Image Basket- Clicking this will open a list of pictures that you have stored in your Image Basket, selecting one will embed your picture in the post, like this.

5. Smileys- This is a selection of some of the smileys of LiveWire, selecting one will embed it into the post, like this.

6. Anonymous- Selecting this option will post your topic anonymous, meaning your username will be hidden and your identity will remain unknown, but there is a limit to two anonymous posts per day. Do not use inappropriately, only for serious topics.

7. Do Not Show In Fresh Topics- Enabling this feature will hide your topic from being seen on the panel usually located on the left side. Doing this will reduce the number of replies, but help retain confidentiality/prevent trolls(unsupportive members.)

8. Title- This will be what appears on the Fresh Topics list, and the header of the actual topic, such as in this case "A Guide to Posting".

9. Description- This is to add extra detail at a glance, that will appear as a sub-heading on the forums list but does not display on Fresh Topics to give members a better idea of what the topic is about. In this case, the topic description would be "If Confused, Please Read"

10. Text Modifiers- This is your font, size, and color options. Note while selecting one of these, or a picture or smiley, a text will be written automatically such as [ color=blue ] [ /color ] or : blush : For text to be affected, it must be within the brackets, so for instance:

[ color=green ] Hi, I'm new. [ /color ]
Hi, I'm new.

11. Spell-check-Please remember to use spell-check every time you post, on topic titles, descriptions(if applicable), and the posts themselves. This is common courtesy, but if the spelling is correct(such as Obama) do not change it.

12. Post Preview - This feature will display a preview of what your topic will look like below the text box, so that you may double check how your post will come out, if videos will work, and if pictures load properly. It is also common courtesy to check a preview before posting to avoid embarrassing mistakes.

13. LiveTags- This will open a separate window of LiveWire, displaying the various LiveTags of LiveWire, such as how to embed videos, pictures, quotes, and lists.

14. FAQ- This is how you search the Frequently Asked Questions Guides, to see if a question you have might already be answered.

15. Text Box- This is the text box, where you(go figure) write text. This is what the post is comprised of mainly.

16. Create Topic- Creates the topic for all of LiveWire to see.
Remember

  • Spell-check
  • Preview
  • Search FAQ if a question about LiveWire.

2. LiveTags

As you spend more time on LiveWire, you may choose to type the tags directly in, and some Tags you have to type in. If you do...

A) Keep in brackets [ ] [ / ] without spaces inside the brackets, or else it will display literally as that and look bad.

B) Avoid long chains of tags such as [ color=red ] [ size=5 ] [ b ] [ i ] [ u ] [ m ] [ /color ] [ /size ] [ /b ] [ /i ] [ /u ] [ /m ] Without proper spacing, LiveWire will reject it as spam and ask you to retype with more spaces in between the brackets. Warning: This may reset your posting, erasing the entire post.

C) Codes
