i guess this is obvious for some but nobody becomes an SL anymore merely for joy of helping others. they just want that power trip

they do it because they want that mod spot
i can only think of 1 or 2 SLs that have no interest in a moderator position and do the job because they like helping people (or so they tell me)

all the other SLs i've seen or spoken with over the years have become support leaders only for the position of power and for the aspiration of a being a moderator.

i can probably name a few mods who if they were demoted and told they would never be mods again, they wouldn't bother with being supportive anymore because they probably wouldnt see the point if doing it doesn't secure themselves a position of power

I became Support Leader because I have a passion for helping people. I didn't become a Support Leader for the powers. I have input of mod application but that wasn't my purpose to be a support leader.

Ah, I understand what your trying to say. Personally, I would still be active in the forums and as a SL if that ever happened. I agree that their are a lot of greedy people who just want to use the powers, but eventually they'd be demoted for inactivity or abuse of their powers. (:

Honestly, I disagree greatly with you. We have some SL's who greatly enjoy helping people. I, myself, came a SL for the sole purpose of helping. Just because some of us have input a mod app, doesn't mean that we are going to stop helping....
no but you'll keep being supportive as long as you still have a shot at getting a moderator position someday
if you were told you'd never become a mod, i bet a lot of people would be like "then why the hell am i still bothering with ehelps if it doesn't get me anything"
they might stay SLs only because they have limited powers, more powers than normal members
a lot people are greedy and selfish and power trip

i tried to use that to join. i like helping people so thats why i tried to become a support leader but they rejected me.

Probably because you're only 12 days active? You need to have proof of being supportive over a reasonably long period of time. Other wise you could just spend an hour being really supportive and get the position.

I'm a support leader...and I really have no intrest in being mod...I just like helping people...

I honestly joined this site for the sole purpose of trying my hand at giving advice/support to others.  That's the only reason I joined, and become a support leader to have better access to that.

I'm not a fan of the 'power' of it... and I don't use it unless I think it's necessary.  And if you'd like, I've been told by a few moderators that I should apply for a mod position, but as you can see, I'm still merely a Dairy Product Addict :).  Maybe I'll consider mod some day... but I'm not really one for having 'power trips'.  I don't like people getting irritated or upset with me, lol.

Either way, I would say that there are probably more than just 1-2... and even if they do want to be moderators, I don't think the majority of SLs became SLs without thinking they actually wanted to help...

it's because you need to become an SL before becoming a moderator

and how the hell is this in political teen forum
move to DTRM

already done not by me  though.

I don't really think I fit into that example that you listed, since I wanted to become a support leader and help people, instead of having to watch topics where people ask for support and get

"LOLZ WUTAFAG"

all i can say is that i disagree strongly with that view.
