My boyfriend is 20 and im 17.
Next june when i turn 18 my mom and older brother are moving up to N. Carolina. My mother and I have already talked it over, and I most likely will be staying here with my boyfriend who @ the time will be 21. I started looking @ a few little like 1-2 bedroom houses in my moms home magazines and i pointed out a few to my boyfriend (ps. we are very serious) He completely laughs @ the idea and calls me stupid for even considering buying a home @ 18.

Is it that strange for 2 people 18 & 21 or even 19 & 22 to buy a small home together? If so... why?

I'm moving out in September. Wooohooo!

I'd say the average age here is about 23/24 though. People really can't afford to.

I've found some very beautiful houses in NC 3 bedroom 2 bathroom roughly 2000 sq ft. between $75,000 and $125,00 which we can afford.

Over here a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house would be around the US equivalent of $300,000, and that is no exaggeration at all. The fact that you can get one for that cheap is astounding.

in sociology we learned its actually around the mid 20's. of course college is like a learnign vehicle but most people are still relying on coming home rent free so thats a huge safety net.

it depends on so much. but with rising costs of living, more and more people are staying home for longer. (think about failure to launch..funny movie, semi true point) it is just getting too expensive for alot of people. I moved out at 17 though ..so it just depends

Shit, I'm 17 and I have my own townhouse.

Parents moved to NJ, I didn't want to go. So, I got a townhouse.

i'd say 21 upwards, after you have all your qualifications and can fend for yourself.

Heh, well there you go then! If you can afford it, and you're ready and willing, then go for it! Good luck and enjoy!
