| people dont give advice on anorexia unless youve been anorexic, apparently you do lose weight from anorexia seeing as skinny as the people get. Not saying its good. But it works |

you'll lose faster if you eat healthy and exercise. and you wont gain it back.
Wrong, and wrong. When I stopped eating I lost weight really quickly. It all just kinda melted off... but not in the right spots. My arms, for example became freakishly thin. I never really worked out so my arms kind of atrophied at the loss of food. My cheeks got sunken in, and my ribs stuck out. Nowadays I'm probably the same weight, but there's more muscle, less fat. You won't necessarily "gain it all back once you start eating again". It's healthy eating habits that result in healthy weight loss, and gain. It's only if you starve yourself for a day, then pig out on french fries and a burger that you're going to be gaining unhealthy weight. I didn't eat hardly anything for about an entire semester... once I started eating again, I made sure to start slow, eating a little more each time. Only healthy things too... once I started to fill back out, it was the right weight. Muscle. |

You can be overweight and have the mindset of an anorexic.
agreed, but you aren't clinically anorexic |

| Just because someone is overweight does not mean they do not have the mindset, or the tendencies of an anorexic. You don't have to be underweight to be anorexic - if you think about, generally people start out at a normal weight before they get underweight by being anorexic. Overweight people are just as prone. Anyway, I agree with Anonymous Chris. I tried skipping meals and starving myself for a while, and while it worked, it was not a long term solution. I am much happier nowadays that I am recovering and eating smaller, more frequent, healthy meals, and doing some exercise. I feel better, and my body looks essentially the same, or even a little better. I know how hard it is to convince yourself that skipping and starving is not the option, but if you can attempt to stop this cycle before it really starts, trust me, you will be better off. If you want to talk at all, feel free to PM me. Take care! |

| I've never heard of anyone being overweight and anorexic, but you can be bulimic and overweight. It's just a stupid thing to do though. Your metabolism will slow down and all the food that you may and will have to eat eventually will just be stored as fat. |

To be anorexic, your BMI has to be lower than 17.5.
Not true... I have a friend who is anorexic and she has a normal BMI, 18 (maybe it's slightly underweight)... My BMI is 15.6 and I am not anorexic.

| skipping meals does not equal anorexia. Instead of skipping meals, just eat healthier foods in smaller portions, and exercise. |

Generally people who are anorexic are underweight. Though this is not to say you can't have the same mind set as them, however I think they usually refer to people showing only a few symptons of anorexia as EDNOS (Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified)
yeah, this is true. this isnt a healthy way to lose. you'll lose faster if you eat healthy and exercise. and you wont gain it back. |

| Well, anorexia is a diesease and you can't just say, "I'm anorexic because I skip meals once in a while." so I would not say that you are anorexic because if you are overweight then you can't possibly be anorexic. I skip meals one in a while and I am skinny as hell. But I am not anorexic. |

You do realize skipping meals doesn't help you lose weight? It slows down your metabolism because your body thinks it's in a famine, so it turns all the food you obtain into fat. Dont skip meals. Eat 3 meals and 2 snacks a day, just make them healthy.
