I'm 17 years old, 5'11, and 133 lbs. And today in gym class Everyone got their weight taken and their fat percentage from a scale (that you stand on). It said that I have a 2.5 bodyfat percentage. Is that right? It seemed pretty accurate for everyone else. The athletic people had 6-9%, and a lot of girls were around 20%, and the other guys had normally like 15%, but I had 2.5%.

Am I anorexic, or underweight??

no that sounds about right.

maybe if you were taller or weighed less, but no.
that seems good.

I wouldn't worry about it... you say you're active, with all those sit ups and stuff.  My brother is you're height and weighs less than you.  Some people just have a naturally low body weight.  While gaining some weight might be good, it shouldn't be a huge stressor in your life.

Oh, and those tests they do in gym class aren't always the most accurate anyway... last year, we did about 6 different tests in my class, and most of them were fairly accurate, but the waist-to-hip ratio test said I was obese... I'm 5'8 and weigh 115 lbs.  I just happen to have a teeny tiny waist and slightly larger hips.
So don't trust that every test is completely accurate.

being underweight doesnt make you anorexic. theres alot more to it than that.

youre underweight, but not by heaps.
if youre happy with the way you are then it doesnt really matter.

You're pretty thin, it's not overly thin though.

Anything is possible.

5'11 & 133lbs is thin but not THAT thin imo...one of my friends is 6'2 and weighs like 110lbs, its gross.

Oh, and I'm a guy if you're wondering.

I don't have a six pack or anything, but I'd say I'm average. I try to do around 100-200 situps a night, but I usually skip a day once and a while because I get tired after work. I don't eat very little or anything. I eat normal portions at normal times. Sometimes I have a salad for lunch because I don't usually like the school's normal lunch. Oh, and I don't eat breakfast, but I never have.

Are you a girl or a guy? Look at the chart. 10% essential fat for girls, 2-4% for guys. Dropping below this number is a really bad idea.

It's not about your body fat,
You're 5'11 and just weight 133?
You're pretty underweight.

Try weight-lifting and having milkshakes or energy bars afterwards.
You seriously could use some muscular mass.

Don't do this. If your body fat is really that low, it could be dangerous to overwork your muscles. You need a certain amount of fat in your body. Check with someone first, cos 2.5 sounds too low..

lyssabear Posted at 10:04 pm on Sep. 18, 2008
Doesnt mean your fat, doesnt mean your anorexic
You sound about right to me :D

Are you well-toned, have an athletic build? I mean you're thin, and if you have toned muscles, then that means your fat level is really low. Too low isn't good though, so check with someone...
