For the past few weeks I've been drinking a 'whey powder' protein shake each morning with my brekkie, I'm a vegetarian so i thought I'd better try and get more protein into my diet (good move i hope?!) but having weighed myself this morning I've found i've lost 4 pounds?? from 126lbs to 122lbs.

Can protein shakes do this?! I always thought protein helped you gain weight/muscle, but i'm apparently doing the opposite ?

4 pounds is fuck all, you can gain or lose that much at the drop of a hat

it generally takes at least 2 weeks of dieting to lose 4lbs

or a particularly hot day when you sweat a lot will also make you lose 4 pounds, but you will put most of it back on when you rehydrate
hellooo???

protein will not make u grow muscle unless you are actually doing any exercise/weights. protein usually takes longer for your body to process it which means that you are probably missing out on other meals u might be having.

Only take the protein if you are doing weights. If you want to gain weight, eat more carbs like pasta and potatos etc

yeah protein fills you up more so you are probably eating less other stuff, which turns to stored fat.

Wow, but muscle weighs more than fat... :S
yes muscle is more dense. but people can have more fat

protein keeps you full for longer, so that may be why youre losing weight... eating less coz of protein

Maybe the protein is making you feel full for longer so you're eating less after breakfast.
