| After reading this thread I realized that I am anorexic. I figured my abnormal weight and light eating habits were just genetics (most likely an excuse) because my grandfather had it. I am 5'9 and 115 lbs and my BMI is 7%. I think I have been anorexic for 3 years now, and I had absolutely no idea until a good friend of mine texted me about how her therapy was going (she was bolimic and anorexic, fourth generation to have it). Anyway thanks for the thread, getting checked out tomorrow. |

No one here is able to diagnose you with anorexia. Anorexia is diagnosed by a health care professional, usually a psychiatrist who is trained in that area of expertise. You can check out the DSM IV's criteria for anorexia. There are usually 4 key things to diagnose a person with anorexia. 1) Refusing to maintain healthy body weight. 2) Incredibly strong fear of gaining weight. 3) The menstrual cycle is interrupted by at least 3 months or so. 4) I don't know how to really explain this one, but it's like denying anything is wrong with your weight/health. People may say 'Yeah you sound it' but they probably don't even know the definition of anorexia nervosa or it's symptoms. If you think you have any of those 4 then see a doctor. IMO it doesn't sound healthy, but everyone is different and sometimes people can survive on little food. I think you should see a doctor and get a blood test + other tests just to make sure.
I second everything in this post |

real anorexia IS subconscious those who openly admit to being anorexic are generally attention seeking a bit, and they know they can change their eating habits, though real anorexics are unaware they have a problem
Not always true. |

| I think that could be very true, but I wouldn't jump to self-diagnose yourself. If you want to, I would go to the doctor and talk it through with them, they can give you better advice on where to go from here. As for they question of being subconsciously anorexic, I didn't think anorexics walked around thinking "I'm anorexic" all day. |

i think youre sick..you need to eat ..its not healthy what youre doing..you could faint
That's an understatement. You could literally die. Your body isn't getting anything it needs. It will eventually start eatings it's self from the inside out. You have to do something about it, immediately. I can't stress that enough. 54 |

| Yes, I would consider that as anorexic. You haven't had food for such a long time that now it makes you sick just smelling it. I suggest you seek help, immediately. 54 |
