and
Yeah, I know Obama looks slightly fucked up. I plan on fixing that.
What do you think?
They look like they're caught somewhere in between trying to be realistic and trying to be a cartoon. Either use less shading and less harsh lines (like make it more of a sketch) or use some charcoal and really define the shaded and non-shaded areas to make it seem more realistic. A few more things that would make them more realistic is if you used a bunch of tiny lines in like a criss-cross pattern to make the eyebrows versus just one matte eyebrow, putting shading in the hair by also using individual lines instead of just coloring it in flat, and fixing the eyes a bit. Don't be afraid to make their pupils and eyelashes really dark (if you make the rest of the shadings on the face extreme this'll even out how dark eyelashes really are). Also, remember that the whites of people's eyes aren't actually white, they're grey and there is shading in them. Define the tear duct a bit more and in the corners of the eyes very lightly shade so it is darker in the corners and get's lighter as it comes out into the eye. There also tends to be a greyness around people's irises.
Edit: The lips too. Lips have very dark and light areas (you did well on Obama's but McCain's could be better). You might want to add in some vertical lines that are curved to the lips to make them look more realistic. Also, the top lip is always darker and has a more consistent shade than the lower lip.

I think you should of used charcoal if you wanted to smear instead. Since you used pencil, why not try gradation, highlights, reflective lights, etc. to make it appear real? You did a good job overall. LOL. Yeah I did. You make it sound like a crime. I suck at drawing old people. I'm sorry if you were discouraged or offended in any way. It was just a suggestion, you know, a good tip to keep in mind.

Oh no, I'm not offended at all. I appreciate the feedback.
Shazzaamm!
But yeah, those are great! I wish I could draw like that.
