| use flash on a fairly weak setting to fill it in slightly? actually i have a feeling that the 'night' setting on them works okay on shots like this. obv you could shoot from another angle, so not against the light, but then you wouldn't have the pretty background. |

Full flash absolutely killed the background, yeah, so I just just turned that off. I'm not sure about this fill flash though. I'll check my manual and see how that goes. Thank you! |

I tried flash, but that completely blackened the background. I didn't bother with the aperture though. I'll definitely try that out next time. Thanks, Reev. |

| well for 1, you have the subjects facing towards the sun so that any light is going onto them, and isn't behind them. and for how dark it seems right there, you'd probably want to have your aperture set rather high, a flash would help too. |
