Perhaps the focus on American English more?  Words originating in the US or of US inventions....that's a lot.

American Speak = American (Ie: A variation of English, often referred to as American English)
English Speak = English (Ie: English English, which equals English.)

Technically you are correct although Americans do have different slang than other english speaking counties as well as different spellings of words for example color and colour. So this can be argued.

No, it can't.

good old england, WE FOUNDED YOU SO YOU AMERICANS CAN SHUT UP BEFORE MOTHER ENGLAND COMES OVER THAT POOL AND GIVES YOU A GOOD OLD SPANKING.

WHY CANT YOU BE MORE LIKE YOUR BROTHERS CANADA AND AUSTRALIA? GAWD *sips tea*
American English is a dialect of the English language. American is by no means a language at all, and it simply used to refer to the citizens or residents of those in the USA.

first of all i am not american ...
second i said ... it could be argued, BUT not inteligently.

I repeat, don't trust someone blabbing out a statistic with no proof whatsoever of it's existence or validity.
